Harris TeeterHoadly Road Retail Center - #316 The much anticipated Harris Teeter grocercy store has finally opened in the new shopping center off Hoadly Road near the PW Parkway. Their selection of cheeses, produce and deli-related items is impressive. I also like their broad selection of meats and fish. I even found a new type of fresh chicken breasts that were air packed without water. I gave it a try and loved how they cooked and how tender they were. What I did not like at all was their check-out line. Confusing, crowded and terribly inefficient. You are supposed to put your cart on one side of a barrier and then stand on the other side. Terrible design. The shopping center itself is about half occupied. They have a large Starbucks and a Subway now open. I ate lunch one day at China Wok and quite liked it. ZPizza is just fantastic. They have traditional and more gourmet looking pizza's and sandwhiches at reasonable prices. There is also a large day spa and salon but I have not been there yet. Bottom line, I am thrilled to have local access to guormet food and a great selection of wine and I will definitely shop there when I'm planning one of my dinner parties but day to day I think I'll pass. Unless of course it is in the middle of the night, then I will go there as they are open 24 hours.
